Travelers who stayed in Bologna near Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) have said good things about Hotel EMI, Hotel Del Borgo, and Villa Aretusi.
World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered to be better than in this medieval gem.
Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look for "ragú" on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savor their food, so a meal can last for hours.
Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops are found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage sites. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views of this red-roof city.
The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square, the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088, are home to the city’s best museums.
Bologna accommodations at Booking.com range from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.

Bologna is a college town but also a business center and so a good mix of ages. Good restaurants and plenty of things for tourists to do and see. Easy city to get around and plenty of great places to eat.

Bologna has a wonderful combination of architecture both old and new. We enjoyed the pace as compared to Rome and Florence. The people were welcoming, helpful, and lovely. We had secured and loved our cooking experience. What we did not enjoy was trying to secure a taxi when needed. We found the service unacceptable.

We took a local train to visit the Marconi Museum. Very small intimate museum right on the site where the first wireless message was sent. Nice to get out of town and see how regular everyday people live in Italy.

Our favorite place is Centro Commerciale Centronova and Trattoria La Montanara.
We ate great burgers in the restaurant and traditional Bolognese cuisine in the trattoria.
In Bologna we traveled by bus and car. Both options are NOT problematic. Of course the small streets are difficult, but it's not a problem. You just have to be aware of Italian driving, sometimes it's stupid and thoughtless.
I would recommend not going to the great basilica of San Petronio. The staff is terrible, they have stupid rules - for example take off your hat, and it's raining and cold outside!!! A huge basilica, but inside it is very dark and nothing can be seen. Almost all niches are closed and not illuminated. There was an uncle who wouldn't let you into the only open niche - it was for those praying!!!! And there is no one!!!! We have been to many places and cathedrals and basilicas, but nothing like this. The basilica itself remains unfinished. There are very few drawings, and nothing can be seen from the darkness. Pure waste of time. There are churches and cathedrals nearby - San Pietro Cathedral, it's very beautiful and everything can be photographed with flash.
Large sized room with lovely big windows, air conditioning worked beautifully. The breakfast had a selection of croissants, pastries, tarts and everything else. The staff were friendly and spoke enough English to get by. The price is a little more than average for a B&B but you definitely get what you pay for and feel rather pampered. The walk into central Bologna was not far. I would also recommend the Pizza shop, diagonally opposite the coop and on the same road, which does fantastic food at the cheapest prices I've seen in Italy.
Camplus Guest Bononia Casa per Ferie is a hotel in Bologna, Italy that offers free Wi-Fi, parking, a gym, a 24-hour reception service, and a complimentary breakfast at the canteen. It is near the University of Bologna area and the BolognaFiere Exhibition Center.
Some of the positive aspects of this hotel are:
• The staff is friendly, helpful, and professional.
• The rooms are clean, comfortable, and modern.
• The breakfast is varied, tasty, and generous.
• The price is reasonable and affordable.
Location wise it’s ok about 15 mins to city centre, 25 mins to Bologna Centrale. The studio room is quite small but everything you need is there. I cooked eggs for breakfast and I love the coffee machine! There were also some snacks on the fridge and on the cupboard. It’s actually my first holiday using an apartment as I prefer to stay in a hotel, but when I was looking for a place to stay at that time, there were only 5 hotels available and majority are bed and breakfast/studio type so I decided to give it a try
We really enjoyed our time here. Close to the airport, close to the centre and also the train station. Staff were all friendly and the reception desk was very helpful. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of offerings. Room was very spacious with good air conditioning. The restaurant is very good, we normally avoid eating in hotels but we ended up having dinner twice here. I stayed in another hotel in Bologna closer to the station and it was very old and tired inside, not the case here.
This was my second stay at this excellent hotel. Faultless. Very comfortable room and modern well-appointed en suite shower room. Reception staff are wonderful, helpful and professional. The hotel is in a great location in central Bologna, with Piazza del Nettuno and the historic centre, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. I parked at the nearby Parcheggio Piazza VIII Agosto which was easy. Breakfast was excellent with different options available.
This is a beautifully decorated small hotel quite close to the centre of Bologna. Everything was walkable and the area felt safe at night. Breakfast in the garden was a lovely start to each day with plenty of selection. All the staff were knowledgeable, polite and friendly, going the extra mile to keep all guests happy even though it was a full hotel and peak season. Beds were comfy and shower was good. Definitely on my recommend in Bologna list.
Reasons to stay at Phi Hotel Bologna Al Capello Rosso: Extensive breakfast options including Greek yogurts and cheeses. Good multilingual staff helping guests with luggage and logistics. Excellent bed in the apartment I booked that was around the corner from the historic main hotel. I appreciated that they called me to ask whether I wanted to change my room type after I requested a bathtub. But the apartment, which is shower-only, was lovely.
The hotel is centrally located, minutes walk from the historical center of Bologna. There are supermarkets and shops and restaurants right across the street.
we had a studio apartment which was very spacious and had all the necessary, from an aesthetic perspective the decor was very basic, it was on the ground floor looking into a small courtyard so not a lot of light coming in. but otherwise very clean and practical.
Everything. Class and comfort at every turn and yet, probably because it was Bologna, one of the most reasonable in terms of price. Close to the train station, and not a far walk from the center of town. This was truly luxury compared to other hotel rooms at similar prices. Bed, bathroom, shower, chairs in room, breakfast, lobby, and staff were all excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
A beautiful old apartment that has been subdivided into several hotel rooms. The shared kitchen/living room was stunning. The location was super central and our host was very friendly and met us at the door to explain everything and suggest where to go in Bologna. The room isn't huge but there is enough storage space, as well as a stunning high ceiling and tall window.
Close to Bologna Centrale (5 minute walk) and easily walkable to the town centre (10 minutes). We booked a Deluxe room which was huge and had a balcony. The hotel is enormous and obviously designed for conferences but is perfectly good for a leisure stay.
Breakfast was fine but is on an industrial scale!
The restaurant was OK but quite limited choice.
After so many years of traveling, this is the worst experience that we had. The only positive was the communication with the Wonderful Italy staff, it went flawless and the location that is just steps away from the Bologna Centrale and the Bologna city center. Paula, the agent was helpful, she even made it to meet us earlier than originally scheduled.
This hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Bologna, near many restaurants, as well as the very fun University district. It was especially convenient to be able to come back to the hotel to rest during the day. Also, the two terraces offer beautiful views of the centre of Bologna. The staff was very helpful and the room was very clean!
This hotel was more than I expected.
It is located close to the train station Bologna Central, and 15-20 minutes walk to the city center.
The room was clean, bed very comfortable.
Very easy check in and check out, everything can be handled online through WhatsApp.
Nice, friendly and helpfull staff.
Recently renovated, very nice hotel in the convenient location.
10-15 mins walk to the old town of Bologna and train station.
Personel friendly and helpful, can leave bags before or after check-in.
Very clean and nicely decoreated bathroom that is not so common in Italy.
Comfortable beds.
Location, bus outside every ten minutes to the city centre, nice and quiet when we returned from the hustle and bustle. Nice pool. Got a room upgrade which was great. Lovely hotel would definitely recommend and if we go back to bologna we would stay here 100%
Good location near Bologna's central train station. Also an easy walking distance from the city centre.
The buffet breakfast was varied and very good with both sweet and savory food.
The hotel had a nice quaint feel wich was rather nice.
A spacious comfortable studio room with refined modern decor in the edge of the central part of Bologna and very close to the train station and links to anywhere in Italy and Marconi Express for airport.
The staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful, the hotel is in a convenient location in the heart of Bologna, and we had real coffee (cappuccinos and espresso, not drip) with our free breakfast.
